Mishaps

Strike 1:
Last night on my way home from Zurich I must have fallen asleep because I woke up to two ladies leaning over me, whispering in German. I was so discombobulated that it took me a second to remember I had my headphones in. I yanked them out and all of a sudden their "whispering" turned into yelling. At me. I was like ahhhhh what? What?! Ich spreche kein deutsch! Then the both stopped freaking out and looked relieved. One of them said,"We think you dead! You no wake!" I guess they had both taken notice that I hadn't woken up, and were worried I was going to miss my stop. Then when they were tapping me and talking to me, I didn't budge. I guess they didn't realize I had my headphones in and couldn't hear anything. So their only conclusion was that I must be dead. Awesome.

Strike 2:
We received an official notice on our door yesterday morning that the water in our town was "contaminated" and not to drink any out of the faucets or fountains until given the ok. Apparently, someone spaced mentioning this little detail with me before I left to Zurich. So on the way to the train stop I stopped and filled my water bottle from the fountain. I drank the whole thing. I have no symptoms to report yet, but if I get giardia or some foreign disease because I drank water from a reservoir that a cow died in... you'll know why.

Strike 3:
After I came home I got all my laundry out of the wash. My whites were blue, and my yellows were green. I washed everything together on cold thinking it'd be ok. Obviously not. If someone would like to explain to me where I went wrong, I'd appreciate it.

Game Over.

Oh Ashley, sorry about the mishaps! I tried not to laugh when I read them, I promise :) I hope the dead cow water agrees with you. Maybe you can re-wash your clothes and get some of the funky colors corrected.... I am thinking of you!! I love all of the cool pictures and stories on your blog! Thank you for keeping us up on your adventures!

I know I taught you MANY TIMES how to wash your clothes! Did something not SINK in? Wash darks seperately on cold, never with any light colors that you care about! Some kids have to learn things the hard way. I guess you will remember that lesson for a while.
Is Nina feeling better now? Is German starting to make sense? I am sure every missionary felt dumb and frusterated in the beginning. Just continue to pray, study, and pray some more. It is okay to pray for the gift of tongues. If you are doing your part and you work hard, have faith you will get it! Remember on "The Other Side of Heaven" Elder Grohberg read the scriptures in the language he was learning, at the same time he studied the scriptures in English. That might help.
I am glad the ladies who thought you were dead on the train woke you before you missed your stop!
I am glad you haven't had symptoms of drinking contaminated water. That is no fun! You should've felt ill within the first 24 to 48 hours, if you were going to.
Can you believe the kids start school again tomorrow?! I can't! It will be good to get on an earlier bedtime schedule, but I am not looking forward to all the homework. The kids all got to bed at a decent time, but now I am up late again. BAD! Aimee wants me to fix sourdough pancakes at 6:30am! LOVE YOU! We had Stephen and Louise and all the kids for dinner this evening. Steve said to say HI!

Oh Smashley! Sounds like you are having quite an adventure in Europe! Just remember, life wouldn't be nearly as exciting if we didn't have things like this to laugh about. Like when we were small children and we got in to trouble that one time, or two times, or every day:) It's all a good learning experience!
